2010 IAS Visiting Fellowship Award Guidelines

Objectives

  • Improve skills and knowledge in the field of cardiovascular disease Learn new research techniques in the field of cardiovascular disease Implement new techniques or initiate
    new programs in atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease in home country

Eligibility

  • Member of a constituent society of the IAS Actively engaged in research in the field of cardiovascular disease Individuals only MD/PhD or equivalent degree required
  • Age 40 or less

Application Deadline:

  • December 15, 2009

Applicant responsibilities (must be submitted in English)

Enclose 5 copies of each of the following:

  • Curriculum vitae (include list of publications)
  • Outline of project objectives (not to exceed 2 pages)
  • Changes the fellowship will produce for your career and for the research program in your home laboratory
  • Letter of acceptance from the host laboratory Letter of approval from candidate’s current supervisor
  • Letter from the president or secretary of constituent society of which you are a member certifying your membership
  • Reprints of five (5) of your most recently published articles
  • Photograph
  • Proof of age (40 or less)

At the end of the fellowship, the award winner must submit a final report of up to 5 pages to the IAS.

This report will be posted on the web site and carried in the e-Newsletter

Selection Procedure

The selection will be made by the IAS Fellowship Review Committee. At the discretion of the Review Committee, a selection of 1-2 candidates for the 3-Month Visiting Fellowship Award or the 6-Month Visiting Fellowship Award will be chosen from the lesser developed regions of the world to encourage the advance of science in the home country.

Funding

Funding in a single payment in US dollars will be made one month prior to beginning the fellowship. An airline ticket or travel agency invoice is required before payment may be made. No expenses for spouses will be covered.

Visiting Fellowship Award
  • 3-Month Visiting Fellowship Award: $5,000
  • 6-Month Visiting Fellowship Award: $8,000
