In
2002 basic cardiovascular research group of
former Yugoslav Atherosclerosis Society and
Serbian Physiological Society decided to establish
the Serbian Association for Arteriosclerosis,
Thrombosis and Vascular Biology Research (formerly
known as the Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis
and Vascular Biology Research of the Serbian
Physiological Society). The newly established
scientific association in Serbia consisted
of physiologists, pathophysiologists, biologists,
molecular biologists, pharmacologists, toxicologists,
and clinicians with experience and interest
in the field of arteriosclerosis, thrombosis,
and vascular biology research. There are 100
regular members to date and the number of members
is expected to grow in the future. The members
of the Serbian ATVB are recognized members
of several international scientific organizations
and they established strong scientific contacts
with the International Atherosclerosis Society,
European Atherosclerosis Society and International
Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences. The co-founders
of the former Yugoslav Atherosclerosis Society
(in 1997) and co-organizers of the First Yugoslav
Congress on Atherosclerosis with International
Participation (Belgrade, 2001) are Prof. Dr.
Dragan Djuric and Prof. Dr. Vladimir Jakovljevic.
The Serbian Association for Arteriosclerosis,
Thrombosis and Vascular Biology Research has
been a constituent member of International
Atherosclerosis Society since 2003. |
| The
Serbian Association for Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis
and Vascular Biology Research performed

of Atherosclerosis Prevention with Introduction
to Harmonized IAS Guidelines" for large
