Mission
Statement: To
promote
and
develop
the
knowledge
about
Atherosclerosis
in
basic,
clinical
and
preventive
studies.
History
of
Department
of
Atherosclerosis,
Brazilian
Society
of
Cardiology:
The
Department
of
Atherosclerosis,
Brazilian
Society
of
Cardiology
was
created
as
a
Group
of
Individuals
(GEPA),
linked
to
the
Brazilian
Society
of
Cardiology,
sharing
a
common
interest
in
atherosclerosis.
The
Group
was
officially
founded
in
February
15th,
1989,
in
a
meeting
at
Sao
Paulo,
Brazil,
when
the
mission
and
the
rules
were
approved
by
the
fellows.
After
a
remarkable
development
in
a
few
years,
the
Group
was
promoted
to
Department
of
the
Brazilian
Society
of
Cardiology
with
the
Officers
being
elected
by
the
fellows.
Current
Activities:
Department
of
Atherosclerosis
of
the
Brazilian
Society
of
Cardiology
also
has
an
official
journal “International
Journal
of
Atherosclerosis “.
